Prof. Rajive Kumar

A distinguished scholar and able administrator, Prof. Rajive Kumar is the eighth Vice-Chancellor of J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad.

Prof. Rajive Kumar holds a Ph.D. from IIT Delhi, a M.Sc. and M.Phil. from the erstwhile Roorkee University (now IIT Roorkee), and an M.E. in Computer Technology and Application from Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi. With over 33 years’ experience in academic institutions, he has been a transformative academic administrator, shaping policies and strategies that foster innovative education and empower future generations.

Prof. Kumar’s illustrious career includes a remarkable 35-years in academics that include 25 years at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal, erstwhile C.R. State College of Engineering, Haryana, where he joined as Lecturer and served last as Professor of Mathematics. He held key leadership roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology & Computer Science, Chairman of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, and Chairman of the Department of Mathematics. He possesses more than 25 years of research experience in the field of Mathematical Computing, Software Engineering and Image Processing. He has published a number of research papers in national and international Journals and presented them in India and abroad.

Since 2016 (on deputation), he has made significant contributions at the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, serving over nine years as Advisor-I, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), and Member Secretary. As Head of Policy and Academic Planning bureau, he studied the recommendations of Kaw committee, constituted by Ministry of Education to suggest reforms in AICTE and extracted the major recommendations out of it in 2017.

A champion of innovation, Prof. Rajive Kumar has been instrumental in promoting initiatives like the Smart India Hackathon, the world’s largest hackathon, which has become a cornerstone for nurturing student innovation. Under his leadership, Institute Innovation Councils (IICs) have been established across institutions nationwide, mentoring students and connecting hackathon winners with incubators to transform ideas into reality.

His efforts have also led to the creation of Idea Labs in 100 colleges, supported by industry and AICTE, and the National Educational Alliance for Technology (NEAT), enabling EdTech companies to deliver AI-based, customized learning solutions to students. His extensive experience includes serving on the Boards of Governors of prestigious institutions like BITS Pilani (Hyderabad, Goa, and Dubai), NITTTR Bhopal,SLIET Longowal in Sangrur, and PEC University Chandigarh, among others. He is also member of various committees constituted by Government of India for implementing NEP-2020 and blending skill with Higher Education and member of Haryana State Higher Education Council.

Prof. Rajive Kumar has international visits to his credit heading a Higher Delegation to USA in 2018 with visits to various Universities. He has also visited State University of New York in 2017; Winnipeg University Canada in June 2014 and attending international conferences at Kula Lumpur, Beijing, China, Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago USA.
